Meet Mario and Valia

About Angels Giving Back
Angels Giving Back was formed to continue the generosity of the founders of Colbea/ Seasons Corner Market, Mario and Valia Coletta. They established a company built on hard work and determination, and took pride in building a business that touched people’s lives in many ways. Providing education to families and the ability to sustain their lives while watching these families prosper and grow, Mario and Valia never forgot where they came from and how they were helped along the way, so in turn they gave back.
Mario Coletta was a resilient man who came to the US from Italy and made nothing short of an impact throughout his life. From his service in the US Army and National Guard to establishing his own business, he was a truly respectable gentleman. Mario always had a passion for running and would run 5 miles a day 4 times a week. He began at the YMCA in Providence and when it closed became a member of the JCC on the east side. He ran several annual races including the Steven Shaw Memorial Race, the Harvard Health Downtown 5K (now the CVS Downtown 5K), and the Blessing of the Fleet. Unfortunately, toward the latter part of his life, Mario suffered with Alzheimer’s Disease.
Valia Coletta worked hard by Mario’s side, while she took care of the family. Although she had health problems throughout her life, her strength was inconceivable and nothing kept her down. She had a massive heart attack at the age of 50 and went into renal failure at the age of 60 from Polycystic kidney disease and needed a transplant to stay alive. Valia was very generous and gave to several organizations including PKD, American Heart Association, Miriam Hospital, Saint Ann’s, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and many others.
